Anora O'Connor / CEO
About me: After working in the hospitality industry for over 20 years, I was ready for a career change that would allow me to passionately pursue my purpose of empowering people. Previously, I served on the Char-Em United Way Board for three years where I learned how our organization impacts the community by funding programs and initiatives that promote long-term solutions to Education, Health and Financial Stability. During my time as a board member, I co-created and chaired the Toast to Literacy event that helps to support the Dolly Parton Imagination Library program. I am absolutely honored and humbled to be working with amazing individuals, doing our best to make a difference.
What I love about my job: Being new to the human services realm, I am loving LEARNING about how the community helps our families and individuals.
My favorite food: Give me all the Mexican food, please!
Rebeca Otto / Events Coordinator
About Me: I was born in Mexico City, and then moved to Michigan at the age of 9 (the current age of my only child). I began my journey with Char-Em United Way as a committee member for the Instant Wine Cellar, and then later for the Toast to Literacy. Previously, I worked with organizations like Crooked Tree Arts Center, Bliss Fest, Earth Work Music planning events, where I enjoyed working with musicians and groups of people passionate about their cause. I bring decades of event and organizing experience, and am happy to now manage all the events at Char-Em United Way.
What I love about my job: I love connecting people and resources in my community.
My favorite food: Enchiladas
