CATHOLIC HUMAN SERVICES
Foster Grandparent Programs
Senior Companions volunteer to visit homebound elderly and assist with various tasks developing important friendships. Foster Grandparents nurture and mentor infants neglected or abused children and children with learning or physical disabilities.
CHILD AND FAMILY SERVICES
Nurturing Parent Program
Crisis intervention and counseling for youth, education and support to families to prevent and treat child abuse and neglect.
EAST JORDAN SUMMER READING PROGRAM
Preventing the summer slide in reading for students in East Jordan Public Schools
Children read at grade level by 3rd grade.
GREAT START COLLABORATIVE
Children enter kindergarten developmentally on track.
HEALTH DEPARTMENT OF NORTHWEST MICHIGAN
Early Childhood Behavioral Health Initiative
Increase access to behavioral health assessment and treatment for children age 0-5 in Charlevoix and Emmet Counties. United Way is supporting implementation of a universal screening tool for families and children.
MANNA FOOD PROJECT
Providing food for families in need, & distribution to local pantries
United Way helps the Manna Food Bank subsidize distribution of bulk food to 20 local food pantries in Charlevoix and Emmet Counties. Manna also runs a local food pantry.
THE SALVATION ARMY
Emergency Rent, Mortgage, & Utility Assistance
United Way supports emergency assistance for utilities and rent. The Salvation Army also provides distribution of food, clothing, other household necessities and local disaster relief.
WOMEN'S RESOURCE CENTER
Domestic Abuse & Sexual Assault Programs and Children's Learning Center
United Way helps support 24 hour crisis and ongoing services and education for victims of domestic abuse and sexual assault, including the Safe Home. Child care scholarships for the Children's Learning Center are also supported by United Way.
YMCA OF NORTHERN MICHIGAN
HOST out of school time program
The Y-Center provides out- of-school activities and services to area youth and their families. Program components include a healthy snack, physical exercise, and academic support.
