So What?

Our 2009-2010 Campaign has come to and an end and many people ask the question, So What? Our answer to this question is expressed with enthusiasm and excitement. Simply check out our 2009-2010 Community Impact Report to see the progress that has been made in Charlevoix and Emmet Counties.

This report shares a glimpse of the work that we have completed over the last year. From investing $166,750 in 23 programs of 21 local health and human service agencies, to our 5 impact areas, partner agencies and current projects and strategic initiatives, we encourage you to check out the report and see the impact we have had in Charlevoix and Emmet Counties.

Without the dollars contributed, we could not assist Manna in providing food to local pantries, Exceptional Riders in increasing the self-esteem of more than 18 kids with physical and developmental disabilities or Northern Homes in decreasing and preventing the effects of losing a home on a family.

After looking over the report, we are sure you'll see the impact your investment in United Way has. After all, United Way does much more than a community Campaign and we could not do it without YOU!

Volunteer

Char-Em United Way promotes volunteerism to lend support to non-profit programs that advance the common good. Our efforts to increase volunteering benefit the community by helping non-profit organizations maintain their services and stretch their budgets through effective use of volunteers. At the same time, people wishing to volunteer are able to match their skills, passion, and availability with the needs of the community.

Give an hour. Give a Saturday. Give your best. We all have special talents. Things we can to do help. And when we reach out a hand to one, we influence the condition of all. LIVE UNITED

Volunteer Initiatives

  • Volunteer Connections- Our "virtual volunteer center" launched in December of 2009. It is the mission of Volunteer Connections to serve the volunteer needs of Charlevoix and Emmet Counties, by providing additional resources for volunteer recruitment, recognition, and management. The purpose of Volunteer Connections is to promote and increase volunteerism in our two county area. Volunteer Connections will assist organizations in maximizing their utilization of volunteers while assisting community members in finding meaningful volunteer opportunities. To register on Volunteer Connections and begin posting your non-profits volunteer opportunities click here.

  • Michigan Student Service Award Program- A way of recognizing high school graduates who volunteer a significant number of hours to benefit their community through service and volunteerism during the course of their high school careers.
  • Senior Impact Award- A way of recognizing and celebrating seniors who volunteer to improve the communities where they live and work. The Priority Health Senior Impact Award recognizes senior volunteers who put their energy and commitment to work in their communities, making life a little easier for all of us.
