UPDATE: Char-Em United Way is stepping up to help United Way of Genesee County and the community of Flint, Michigan.
If you would like to donate to the effort and would like to make your donation locally, Char-Em United Way will send 100% of any funds recieved, earmarked for this effort, to the community of Flint via the United Way of Genesee County. Simply indicate on your check or online contribution that you wish your funds to support the commuinty of Flint.
If you would like to donate directly to the effort in Flint, we strongly suggest you do so through the United Way of Genesee County.
United Way of Genesee County is accepting monetary donations for the purchase of filters, bottled water, emergency support services and prevention efforts. 100% of these funds are used for these projects and no administrative fee is assessed. If you get inquiries from your community or from corporate partners, please direct them to United Way of Genesee County.

Memo line: Flint Water Fund
After they finish purchasing filters, etc., any remaining funds will be directed to the Flint Child Health & Development Fund at www.flintkids.org.
This fund will provide aid to children and families with interventions that support positive health outcomes.
Bottled Water Donations:
The Food Bank of Eastern Michigan serves as the hub for the bottled water donations and community distribution. The Food Bank has more than 200 community partners in Genesee County and upwards of 90 partners directly in the City of Flint. The Food Bank has a dedicated fleet and drivers that distribute to community organizations in every part of the City.
· Water drives that raise 100 cases or less should be donated to local entities of the donor’s choice that serve Flint residents or can be dropped off at the Food Bank. Please contact the Food Bank prior to making the donation.
· Large scale donations by the pallet or truckload should be donated to the Food Bank directly for distribution through its current partner agency distribution model. Please contact the Food Bank to arrange delivery of the donation.
o Water distribution includes Flint community partners such as churches, neighborhood based organizations and large social service organizations that are located in every ward of the City of Flint. These include distributions with food to three Mass Sites that receive a truckload of mixed product each week in areas identified as having the greatest need.
o Water distribution systems can include partners designated by the United Way and schools located within the City of Flint
